The Bel Air mansion where federal agents found a stash of thousands of guns belongs to the mistress with whom oil fortune heir Gordon Getty fathered a secret family. 

According to court records, the home belongs to Getty’s former mistress Cynthia Beck, who bought the property in 2001. 

ABC7 reporter Jory Rand said in a tweet that a suspect arrested on Wednesday had been identified as Girard Saenz.

Beck is famous as the women Gordon Getty, the fourth child of oil billionaire J Paul Getty, fathered a secret family of three daughters with during the 1980s and 90s while married to wife Ann, with whom he had four sons.

‘Nicolette, Kendalle and Alexandra are my children,’ Getty wrote in a press when the scandal broke in 1999. 

‘Their mother, Cynthia Beck, and I love them very much.’ 

Getty bought his mistress a string of properties while he was seeing her in secret.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF) raided the property following an anonymous tip-off.

Los Angeles Police Deapartment spokesman Officer Mike Lopez said authorities were told someone was illegally making and selling guns at a house in North Beverly Glen Boulevard.

The BATF agents discovered thousands of rifles, shotguns and handguns, along with gun-making equipment.

‘Obviously it’s a lot,’ Lopez said on Wednesday. ‘They’re going to be there a long time. Possibly even tomorrow.’ 

‘ATF and LAPD have no reason to believe the public is in any danger,’ a statement from the agency said.

Getty, a music composer, assumed control of his father’s $2 billion (£1.5 billion) trust in 1976.

Some believe the Getty family suffers from a curse, which has seen many misfortunes befall them.

Gordon’s son Andrew Rorke Getty aspired to be a movie director, labouring for 13 years on his only film the The Evil Within, before he was founded of intestinal bleeding at his Hollywood Hills home in 2015 at the age of 47.

Gordon’s brother Timmy was struck blind by a brain tumour at the age of six, and died at 12.   

Gordon’s brother John Paul Jr’s second wife Talitha died of a drug and alcohol ovwerdose in 1971, leading him to become a recluse and worsening his heroin addiction. 

In 1973 John Paul Jr’s son 16-year-old John Paull Getty III was abducted in Rome by Mafia kidnappers and held for ransom. 

His grandfather shockingly refused to pay the ransom until the mobsters cut off the boy’s ear, saying: ‘I have 13 other grandchildren, and if I pay one penny now, then I will have 14 kidnapped grandchildren.’
