- Multiple reports of gun shots were also spread and police say victims are ‘likely’
- One person is in custody but police remain at the scene
Two people are feared dead and multiple are injured after a reporting shooting and truck ramming in lower Manhattan.
The incident is said to have taken place near Chambers and Houston Street. The first report of the incident came over the NYC police scanner radio at around 3.20pm.
The NYPD has confirmed one person has been arrested in connection with the incident but investigations are ongoing.
Singer Josh Groban also tweeted after hearing ‘gun shots’ while out walking his dog.
‘Oh my god I just heard gun shots and ran with my dog. Downtown. F***,’ he said.
Simultaneous reports of the same incident suggested that a truck drove into the bicycle lane and mowed down cyclists and pedestrians.
The NYPD could not confirm the information as it spread on social media on Tuesday but a spokesman said reports were being investigated.
