‘The first thing I always do is I stick to the correct calories,’ Sophie told The Healthy Mummy.

‘Even if I want something cheeky that’s not on my meal plan, if I can fit it into my calories, I’ll treat myself.

‘That way I don’t feel like I’m being restricted or missing out.’

The second thing the 30-year-old said she swears by is ‘consistency, every day, every week’.

When it comes to her secrets, Sophie (pictured before and after) said she is always consistent with what she eats and tracks her calories for everything

‘I track everything I put into my mouth. It’s a new way of life,’ Sophie said.

What are Sophie’s weight loss secrets?

* Stick to the correct calories: If something fits into your calories, then you can treat yourself.

* Be consistent: Set good habits for yourself to enhance motivation.

* Be prepared: Sophie spends 20 minutes each week making a meal plan and writing up her grocery list, before she shops and creates snacks and meals.

‘Having good habits helps you ride through the times that you’re feeling unmotivated. It’s impossible to feel motivated every single day.

‘But if you have the habits, you go through the motions until that motivation comes back.’

Lastly, Sophie said one of the main reasons she was able to shake the weight was because she spends 20 minutes each week customising and creating a meal plan, before writing up her shopping list.

‘I grocery shop on Sunday and do some snack prep ready for the week,’ she said.

‘If the good food is already there, there’s less excuse to fall off track.’

She also said she spends 20 minutes each Sunday meal planning and then does the grocery shopping around this plan - this helps her to stay on track (pictured before and after)

According to Sophie, while she had been ‘obese’ for most of her adult life, she really piled on the weight around the time when she first gave birth.

‘I’ve tried more diets than I can list, always resulting in a small loss, followed by me falling off the wagon in a spectacular style and regaining the weight, plus some,’ she said.

But when her son was born in 2015, finally Sophie knew she had to do something:

‘Finally something clicked and I was ready to make a change. I started with some calorie counting and exercise and I started losing weight,’ she said.

By the time 2018 hit, Sophie had got her weight down to around 80 kilograms.

However, when she gave birth for the second time it rocketed back up to 92 kilos.

It was at that point that the mum-of-two joined Australian weight loss program, The Healthy Mummy.

‘Combined with my own weight loss efforts before I found The Healthy Mummy, I have lost a total of 43kg and for the first time in my life, I’m a healthy BMI,’ Sophie said.

Speaking about one of her before and after photos, she added: ‘On the left is a Mum-of-one, who emotionally ate, binged on junk, who had no energy or motivation, who struggled up the stairs to her apartment.

‘On the right is a mum of two, who makes time for exercise, who makes nutrition a priority, who loves herself and her family enough to make good decisions for health.’

Sophie said she feels happier and healthier than ever.

‘You can eat sweet treats while eating healthily, you just need to do so healthily,’ Sophie said.

‘Typically, I’ll make Weetbix Balls, Choc Chip Banana Bread and Choc Mint Bubble Crunch as snacks.’

The Mexican lasagne by The Healthy Mummy is also a huge hit in the Roberts household.

‘I feel in control, it has been slow, steady and consistent weight loss,’ Sophie said. ‘I have a new lifestyle now.’
