The mother of a teenage boy killed in a horror motorcycle crash found Ed Sheeran tickets and a ring he had bought her for Christmas in his bedroom.

Jordan McGrady, 17, died after falling off his motorbike in Adelaide only 11 days before Christmas.

His grieving mother Joanne Ashford soon discovered her deceased son had bought her a ring for Christmas and tickets to see British crooner Ed Sheeran perform in 2018.

‘I never got to thank him for the presents,’ she told The Advertiser.

‘That was the kind of person he was … it was a happy surprise but really sad.’

Jordan, who was the youngest of six boys, died in Royal Adelaide Hospital on December 14, several hours after he fell off his motorcycle during an accident at Largs Bay, in the city’s north.

The learner rider had visited his aunt for dinner when disaster struck just 500 metres from his relative’s home, leaving him with severe head injuries.

During a search of his bedroom Ms Ashford, 45, also found a ring he had bought her for Christmas, along with the Ed Sheeran tickets for his upcoming March concert in Adelaide, which were also an early birthday present.

‘He was a kind kid, he never said a mean thing about anyone,’ Ms Ashford said.

The teenager from Gilles Plains had a passion for motorbikes and had been riding since he was five.

He was also a popular uncle to his 10 nephews and nieces.

A Go Fund Me account has so far raised $1800 for the cost of his funeral, which is being held on Wednesday.
