An Australian mother-of-three has sparked a new practical decor trend after creating an ‘instant coffee table’ using a cheap Kmart product.
Chloe, from Queensland, posted images to the Kmart Home Décor and Hacks Facebook group where she revealed she used a $10 wooden serving board with iron legs on the armrest of her couch.
Others swiftly caught on to the ‘clever’ idea and bought the product to use for themselves.

‘Although I have a coffee table, I wanted something I could sit my coffee on without having to get up all the time, especially on these cold mornings,’ she said.
‘$10 serving board from Kmart, re-drill the base to fit the arm of your couch and presto! A sturdy and stylish coffee holder.’
The serving board works well as a miniature coffee table due to the iron legs that keep it in place.

The idea sparked a response from more than 2,600 people online, and those who bought the budget tray also shared photos of it in action in the comments.
‘We love ours too. My husband thinks it’s the best,’ one woman said.
‘Can’t beat it!’ another said, a third added: ‘I’ve done this too – game changer.’

Many social media users part of the Facebook group also described the hack as ‘brilliant’, ‘clever’ and ‘genius’.
Others also chose to purchase an alternative serving tray for $16 as it fit their couch better.
The original product itself is 30 centimetres long and 25 centimetres wide, and can be purchased online from the Kmart website or in stores.
