Mum-of-three who has driven some of the fastest and priciest supercars reveals how she got the job

A glamorous mum-of-three who has driven some of the world’s fastest and expensive supercars has revealed how she started the unique job – and hopes more women will follow in her footsteps.

As a child Rachel Reid, from the Gold Coast, would help her two older brothers work on their vehicles because her small fingers could get into hard-to-reach spaces.

In her 20s she got into racing go-karts and Formula 440s, became a Miss Indy supercar finalist and rubbed shoulders with industry legends.

Today the 40-year-old is on the advisory board for Lamborghini and raised $51,580 this year for charity partner LIVIN through her annual exclusive event, The Sunset Run.

Rachel told FEMAIL she took a break from the industry when she became a mum but jumped back in the swings of things a few years ago.

Surprisingly, despite her passion for cars, Rachel only owns one – a Porsche Cayenne, a HSL support car, because it’s perfect for her family of five.

She’s driven a wide variety of luxury supercars many wish to own, including Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren and Maserati.

The most expensive car Rachel has ever driven is the Ferrari SF90, which retails around $1.3million.

‘Every day doing what I do is a highlight but if I have to choose just one, being sent to Sepang F1 circuit in 2019 in Malaysia by Michelin to drive Formula 4 was a lifelong dream,’ Rachel told FEMAIL.

Rachel is also the proud founder of Her Supercar Life, an online platform, and The Sunset Run, an annual exclusive event that raises money for charity.

This year The Sunset Run raised a total of $51,580 after an exclusive group paid to enjoy a day of cruising and dining.

Rachel started Her Supercar Life in 2018 after her husband stumbled across Aussie journalist and car influencer Supercar Blondie.

‘He turned to me and said: “You can drive and know much more about cars – why don’t you do something like this?” So thanks to Supercar Blondie really,’ she said.

‘I think she has done an amazing job building a global brand and I’ve reached out to her a few times – even challenged her to a race day.’

But Rachel pointed out how Alex Hirschi (Supercar Blondie) is a journalist who tests never-before-seen cars in Dubai, while she is a driver passionate about getting women involved in automotive.

‘Most of the cars are appreciating more than property so they can make an astute investment if you know what to look for. And why should the boys get to have all the fun!’ she said.

Of the hundreds of cars she has had the pleasure of test driving, Rachel has drawn her favourites to a list of three - the Ferrari F8, Lamborghini Hurracan EVO and Porsche 911 (992) GTS

Of the hundreds of cars she has had the pleasure of test driving, Rachel has drawn her favourites down to a list of three.

She noted the Ferrari F8 as a stand-out car that has a ‘feminine’ styling to previous models.

‘It just looks amazing on the road and has a nice mix of the older and new Ferrari design in one,’ she said.

Another one of her favourites is the Lamborghini Hurracan EVO, priced at $384,187 AUD and can reach speeds of more than 300km.

Rachel also said she enjoyed driving the Porsche 911 (992) GTS because of ‘the sound, the presence and its practicality’.

‘It’s a perfect mix of sporty track-focused car and daily driver with four seats,’ she said.
