A mum-of-two who tipped the scales at 89kg has shared how she dropped 30kg in 11 months.

Lina Adams, from Melbourne, says she was a ‘completely different person’ before she decided to change her diet and lifestyle habits.

The busy mum opted to try The Healthy Mummy’s 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge and stuck to a diet plan that included eating 1,639 calories per day and 30-minute home workouts that combine Pilates exercises with interval and circuit training.

‘For me it’s a lifestyle not a diet, I live with it every day. I have been maintaining my weight since November last year, now I would like to tone up my body and maybe to lose another 2kg if I can,’ she said. 

Today she tips the scales at the weight of 54.5kg and dropped the first 20kg in six months.

What is Lina’s ‘day on a plate’?  

Meal 1 – Breakfast smoothie

Meal 2 – Carrot and zucchini cake or healthy lemon cake

Meal 3 – Midday smoothie

Meal 4 – Banana cake or Carrot and zucchini cake

Meal 5 – Dinner: Easy fried rice or slow cooked Asian chicken

Meal 6 – Dessert: Chocolate lava microwave cake or cookie dough protein balls 

For breakfast, she enjoyed a range of diet smoothies – with flavours including banana, mocha and a ‘fibre’ smoothie.

‘My breakfast is a smoothie, because it’s easy to make, full of nutrients and I can have it while I do school drop off,’ Lina said.

Her lunchtime meals varied but she often chose to make a meal from the fitness app. 

‘Most of the time I have a smoothie lunch, sometimes when I have time I make an easy lunch such as sandwich, wrap or rice paper rolls,’ she said.

Dinner was often difficult at times as there are a number of dietary requirements in Lina’s household, but she tailored each meal to suit her family’s needs.

Choosing from the selection of recipes and meals provided through the dieting app, dinner time became easier.

‘My kids and I love the easy fried rice, as it’s easy to make, low budget but it’s so yummy. Also I can make vegan options for my husband,’ she said.

‘I love those snacks because it’s fulfilling, taste so good, I can make them in a big batch and keep them in the freezer,’ she said.
