‘I think I will be doing this a little more often,’ she said alongside three photos of her efforts

In the first picture is a clean-looking loungeroom with a large rug sitting in the centre.

In the second she introduces her new carpet cleaning tool and in the third she shows off the pile of hair and dirt she found.

‘I examined what was coming up under a jewelers loupe,’ she explained, wanting to check if she was pulling out pieces of the rug.

‘There was no colour coming up, just a lot of dust and staffy hair and food crumbs. So many food crumbs,’ she wrote.

Others were excited by the result.

‘I’m waiting for mine to come in the mail,’ one woman wrote.

As others revealed they too had brought the tool from Ebay and were patiently awaiting its arrival.

Some agreed the job was worth doing but were disillusion by the small size of the tool in comparison with their large carpets.

‘Doe anyone know if they make them any bigger?’ one woman asked.

As others shared links to pet brushes which appeared to be a much more manageable size.

but the original poster said she didn’t mind using the small too.

‘I only have this and one other rug in the house, so doing it with a small tool wasn’t so bad,’ she said.

She clarified she would add the chore to her six-monthly cleaning schedule.
