Mum shares the $15 repurposing trick that doubles the lifespan of bread

  • A mum revealed the simple hack she uses to make her bread last twice as long
  • All she needed was an unlikely $15 container from Kmart

A savvy shopper has figured out the perfect kitchen hack to make her bread last twice as long – and foodies everywhere are grateful for the simple trick.

Linda recently revealed that she doubles the life span of her favourite bakery buy by using an unlikely item from Kmart.

The shopper explained that she uses the retailer’s 6l fridge storage container ($15) to store her bread on her kitchen bench top.

While the item was intended to keep vegetables and fruit fresh in a refrigerator, many are jumping on the bandwagon of it being the perfect bread box.

Linda previously experimented with storing her bread in the fridge or in a wooden box, but the Kmart container has yielded the best results.

‘Since using the veggie container for my bread, it keeps twice as long,’ Linda shared on a popular online forum.

She added: ‘Anything to save money these days.’

Many Kmart fans were instantly intrigued and decided to give the hack a shot themselves.

‘What a great idea, I am sick of having to throw bread away because it is mouldy,’ a woman said. ‘Thanks for the tip!’

‘I need this!’ said another. ‘We don’t eat much bread – my son loves it, but it goes bad so fast.’

‘This is brilliant, I think I will give it a go,’ wrote a third.

Others found another use for the simple hack.

‘I need this for my daughter’s gluten-free bread,’ a mum wrote. ‘The packet always rips when I open it.’

‘Gluten-free bread always has stupid packaging – this would be so much better!’ another added.
