A savvy and resourceful mum has revealed how she saves $100 per fortnight on her grocery shopping simply by meal prepping in bulk.

Posting on Facebook, the organised Australian mum creates her own meal-prep boxes, each with varying ingredients for a different meal – similarly to popular meal kit services.

‘I meal plan for a fortnight (so repeat the same meals the second week) and buy double of everything’, she said online.

‘Then split into boxes (I bought mine for half price at Woolworths) for each day’.

Not only does meal prepping save the mum time in advance, it also saves her around $2,600 each year.

She prepares any meat by marinating and freezing different protein so it’s ready to be cooked when defrosted.

The bottom drawer of the fridge is also dedicated to healthy fruit snacks for her son to eat.

‘I just say those are his choices and he can get something himself,’ she said.
