‘We had a surprise visit from a member of the production crew today who gifted little baby McGregor on behalf of everyone with some merchandise so that we’ll never forget his entry into the world. Best. Story. Ever. ‘

The concert, which took place in Auckland on February 16, saw the star needing assistance as he was escorted offstage.

Before leaving, an emotional Sir Elton told the crowd he had walking pneumonia and wouldn’t be able to continue with the show.

‘I want to thank everyone who attended tonight’s gig in Auckland. I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia earlier today, but I was determined to give you the best show humanly possible,’ he later wrote on Instagram.

‘I played and sang my heart out, until my voice could sing no more. I’m disappointed, deeply upset and sorry. I gave it all I had.’
