A savvy Australian mum has transformed her outdated bathroom using $5 patterned vinyl sheets from Bunnings – and it took her just one hour to complete the look.

The mother-of-two said she wanted a low cost makeover and this simple trick saved her forking out thousands on DIY materials. 

‘We needed a low cost bathroom refresh. I used the Bunnings vinyl on our walls. It’s completely changed the visual aspect for this space,’ she wrote on Facebook.

She used $10 worth of Bunnings’ patterned vinyl adhesive, which retails at $5.14 for a 1.5m x 45cm roll to cover the wall behind her vanity.

The woman revealed it ‘took less than an hour to do’ and said ‘it’s great because she can always replace it’.

Her stunning efforts received hundreds of likes and praise after she posted photos of her transformation on the Bunnings Mums Australia Facebook page.

‘That’s so good! Love the blues and the modern look,’ one person commented. 

‘I’m usually not a fan of the patterned vinyl but in this case I think it looks great and really improves the look and feel of your bathroom,’ another wrote.

Another said: ‘Wow! It’s made a massive difference. It looks so good! The room looks so much brighter now.’

The completed project reveals how she covered the back of each step with black and white vinyl - a job she said cost $30 in total

The woman named Anna, who is based on the Gold Coast, shared two photos on Facebook showing the stairs before and after.

‘Finally finished my stairs. Took one week and an extremely straight eye to complete. Love it. Thanks, Bunnings,’ she captioned the post.

The project – covering the back of each step with black and white vinyl – cost $30 in total.

She explained as well purchasing the vinyl adhesive, priced at $5.14 per roll, the expense covered the cost of black electrical tape.

Anna said she also painted the bannister in black gloss paint, saying it was the ‘best decision I ever made’.
