A creative DIY enthusiast has transformed a $39 round table from Kmart into a coffee table that looks similar to high-end designs.

Mum-of-three Sally turned the basic black table into a stunning piece of furniture featuring a concrete top.

‘Noir Coffee Table revamp…not the smooth concrete finish I had planned but now I’m loving the rustic look, I think it has character!’ she wrote and shared images to a popular Australian Facebook group.

Similar alternative designs from expensive brands can cost between $199 and $499.

Detailing how she altered the table, Sally said the concrete mix was set then sealed with an acrylic sealant to prevent stains and cracks.

To her surprise the table is now sturdier with the concrete than without, which is somewhat odd because the product description states the item has a maximum holding capacity of 5kg.

‘So far it’s fairing really well and actually doesn’t tip as easily as it used to,’ she wrote online.

Bags of quick-set concrete mix can be purchased from Bunnings Warehouse for $9.20 for a 20kg bag.
