A clever mum and her son have come up with a ‘mouthwatering’ caramel brownie cookies and cream cake after brainstorming amazing food combinations.

The Australian woman shared the recipe to the Slow Cooker Recipe and Tips Facebook page, explaining how the idea was created one morning before school.

‘This morning before school my son and I were talking about the most ridiculously, delicious food combinations we could possibly think of – as we often do,’ she wrote in the caption.

‘This was one of our ideas, a chocolate and caramel brownie slice with a cookies and cream top.’

The post was well received by some Australians who were eager to make the dessert themselves.

Describing the three-layered cake as ‘scrumptious’, the mum used a brownie packet mix for the base, poured the mixture into a 20 centimetre cake tin and placed it in the slow cooker for two hours.

For the delicious caramel centre she combined condensed milk, butter, brown sugar, golden syrup and cream and cooked on high for an hour and a half.

She also recommended cooking the caramel without the lid on the slow cooker and stirring every ten minutes until golden in colour.

For the chocolate topping, the mum and her son simply melted a block of white chocolate and added crushed Oreo biscuits on top before refrigerating the dessert.

'This morning before school my son and I were talking about the most ridiculously, delicious food combinations we could possibly think of – as we often do!' she said in the caption. 'This was one of our ideas, a chocolate and caramel brownie slice with a cookies and cream top.'

One Facebook user was so impressed with the dessert she tagged a friend and asked: ‘Can you make this for my birthday?’

‘I so need to make this and eat the whole lot by myself,’ one woman said.

‘That looks fantastic,’ a third added, praising the mother and son.

The post has since been shared 45 times, allowing others to benefit from the recipe too.
