Mumsnet users share the worst weddings they’ve been to

Your wedding day is supposed to be one of the happiest days of your life.

But it doesn’t always go to plan, as these former guests discovered when the weddings they were at turned into a complete disaster.

Taking to Mumsnet, people recalled the worst weddings they’ve ever been to – with huge bust-ups and a lack of food and heating all being part of the mix.

The discussion began after one person recalled how she’d been to a wedding where the grandmother fell down a long flight of stairs and ‘cracked her head open’.

Posting under the username WashingMatilda, she explained: ‘[T]he grandmas wheelchair was left without its brakes on at the top of a big flight of steps outside the registry office.

‘She rolled forward, all the way down, cracked her head open on the slabs, ambulance took her off on blue lights, and the bride spent the reception scrubbing blood out of her train poor bloody woman. It was horrific. (Nan fine in the end).’

Other Mumsnet users began recalling their own horrific wedding experiences, with many involving dramatic rows.

One explained how the groom told everyone his wife had been sleeping with the best man for the past six months during his wedding speech.

A lack of food and drink – and even seats in one case – proved to be a problem at many of the weddings.

One person recalled how the caterers didn’t turn up, while another described how the only food on offer was Haribo.

Meanwhile, one woman described how she was sick in the aisle at church during the ceremony, when she was acting as bridesmaid.
