Mumsnet users share what they absolutely won’t tolerate

  • One mother took to Mumsnet to ask others what they absolutely do not tolerate
  • Many mothers shared similar values and never let their children run riot
  • Others had stricter rules with long lists of behaviour they won’t tolerate

Mothers have entered into a fierce debate over what they have a ‘zero tolerance policy’ for with their toddlers.

One mother took to Mumsnet to ask others what they absolutely do not tolerate when looking after toddlers – and the responses came flooding in.

While many mothers shared similar values and agreed they never let their little ones kick their siblings, run across the road on their own and snatch things, others had a much more lenient approach to parenting.

One mother said the only things she won’t tolerate are ‘bare bums or fighting’, whilst other parents had lengthy lists of behaviour they won’t accept.

Many parents said they don’t allow their children to annoy family pets or mess around with their nappies.

One mother shared an exhaustive list of things she won’t tolerate from her toddlers, including throwing things, refusing to brush their teeth, running off, touching things on shop shelves and not sitting nicely at a restaurant.

Mothers also exchanged tips on how best to manage their toddler’s behaviour, with many mothers sharing their tried-and-tested methods.

One lady explained that she encouraged her three-year-old to eat all of her food by making a picture or pattern with it. ‘I used to make a mountain with cut up pear or apple, faces with sausages, mash and peas, Jenga towers with slices of sandwiches,’ she explained.
