  • Winner will face British No 1 Kyle Edmund as Wimbledon preparation continues

Andy Murray took to the courts on Sunday to train for his upcoming match with Stan Warwrinka, as he continues to try and get back to his best in time for Wimbledon, following a year out injured.

The Brit has played just once since his 11 month lay off in which he had surgery and lost a closely contested battle with Australia’s Nick Kyrgios at Queen’s last Tuesday.

Murray will continue his comeback from injury at the Nature Valley International on Monday after committing to play at the Eastbourne tournament and being handed a wildcard to play.

The two-time Wimbledon champion was handed a tough draw against three-time grand slam winner Stan Wawrinka, who was also given a wildcard for the final Wimbledon warm-up event.

Warwrinka has had his own injury troubles and required two separate operations on his knee as he fell to 261 in the world, even lower than Murray who is currently ranked No 156.

The pair will go head-to-head in the first round at Eastbourne on Monday from 4pm.

Should Murray win, he will have to face the new British No 1, Kyle Edmund, who has moved ahead of the Scot during his injury lay-off.

When he faces the Swiss, it will be just the second game Murray has played in almost 12 months. He fell to defeat against Kyrgios in three sets, although pushed the Aussie all the way.
