A New York penthouse has sold for just under $100million – making it the third priciest apartment ever sold in the Big Apple.

Property records filed on Tuesday show that Penthouse 73, located at 220 Central Park South, closed for a staggering $92.7million. 

The new owner’s identity is currently being concealed by an LLC represented by Terrence Gilbride, an attorney for Hodgson Russ.

As Wall Street Journal reports, two other residential purchases were more expensive than the penthouse listing – including Griffin’s close to $240million hefty price tag for an apartment in the same building and Michael Dell’s $100.47million acquisition of a penthouse at tower One57 off West 57th Street in Manhattan.

On December 12, the publication reported that a four-bedroom apartment at 220 Central Park South was sold for $100million. 

It is unknown whether that 9,800 square feet residence is the same one that was seen on property records from Tuesday.

The penthouse’s location is a prime real estate spot in Manhattan, with Central Park South recently getting named the third top street for price in the world, according to a report from Knight Frank and Douglas Elliman.  

Measuring the number of homes sold between 2015 and June 2019, the report found that the pricey location had 32 sales that totaled $1.436billion and averaged out to roughly $44.9million.

New York had four streets that made the list, with 57th Street coming in first (41 units sold and followed by Central Park South, Park Avenue (20 units) and Fifth Avenue (10 units). 

Central Park South is commonly referred to as Billionaire’s Row.
