Detectives are investigating the mysterious death of a rapper who was found dead in his car outside a child care centre.

Joshua Thorne, 30, from Brisbane, was found in his car by a passer-by outside C.B. Mott Park in Holland Park West in the city’s south-east just after 11pm on Thursday night.

The father-of -two was unable to be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene on Logan Road.

Police also released a photo of Mr Thorpe’s car in the hope the public has more information

His family and friends have since paid tribute to Mr Thorne, saying the most important things in his life were his two children and rapping.

Going under the name of Thorney-maX, the 30-year-old regularly posted videos of himself rapping online.

During July last year, Mr Thorne released his first video clip for a song titled ‘WTH’ onto his YouTube page.

He also released a series of mixtapes where he talks about some of the changes in his life, such as becoming a father, as well as performing at open mic sessions around the city.

Originally from Hervey Bay on the state’s Fraser Coast, relatives have told police Mr Thorne had been living in South Brisbane in recent months.

‘Police are seeking public assistance to identify his recent movements and where he was staying,’ a police statement read.

Described by police as ‘itinerant’, it’s understood Mr Thorne lived in Brisbane southside sharehouses for the last few months and worked at the Rocklea Markets up until two months ago.

Detective Senior Sergeant Tony Geary said a post mortem was being conducted to determine how Mr Thorne had died but police were urging anyone with information to come forward.

‘The vehicle was parked in the left hand lane, in the inbound left hand lane at Logan Rd outside a child care centre,’ Detective Senior Sergeant Tony Geary  told reporters on Friday.

‘We are conducting investigations in relation to that death and we’re seeking information from people that may be in the area at about 11pm last night that have either seen Mr Thorne’s white Commodore at that location or that might have some dashcam footage of that location with Mr Thorne’s vehicle in it.’

‘We ask any person that may have resided previously with Mr Thorne or is currently resided with Mr Thorne to come forward.’

Detectives would also like to hear from anyone who saw Mr Thorne’s car, a white 2008 Holden Commodore sedan with Queensland registration 642-KWR in Holland Park West on Thursday night or who may have dash cam vision from Logan Road.

Anyone with information is urged to call Policelink on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
