An urgent search is underway for an elderly Melbourne couple feared missing after they failed to attend a scheduled medical appointment.

Police hold grave concerns for Bentleigh couple Otto and Gerda, both aged 87, from the city’s south-east who have been missing for almost 24 hours.

The pair were last seen leaving a car park on Kings Way around 6.30pm on Tuesday night in their gold Lexus sedan, registration PYM-184 heading towards the city.

Concerned family members raised the alarm on Wednesday morning after Otto and Gerda failed to attend a prearranged medical appointment.

Their disappearance is out of character as the couple are usually in regular contact with family.
