Mystery surrounds NOVA radio host’s absence from popular breakfast show

Nova 93.7 Perth star Nathan Morris is reportedly taking a break after he continued to miss episodes of the high-rating breakfast show he co-hosts with Shaun McManus and Nat Locke.

The 48-year-old radio veteran has worried fans, who have had little opportunity to hear him since the beginning of the month.

He also missed multiple programs of his Nathan, Nat and Shaun Show in February.

Nova, meanwhile, has advised that the former Big Brother star is taking a ‘break’ until next month for unspecified reasons.

‘Nathan will be on personal leave from the breakfast show for the current survey period. 

‘Nat and Shaun will continue to co-host the show while Nathan takes a break,’ the network informed Perth Now on Friday.

The publication reports that the current ratings survey will end in mid-April, and the Nova breakfast team will then take a break during the school holiday period.

Meanwhile, Nathan did put in an appearance last week on his show with video of the star loaded to Instagram.

In the clip Nathan can be seen taking part in the popular Caller of the Week segment.

‘Good to hear Nathan one day this week. Hope to have him back on again soon! ‘Missing his roaring laughing!’ one user commented on the post.

Nathan’s spotty on-air appearances on his program were addressed during the breakfast show by his co-hosts earlier this month.

‘When me and Nat saw each other in the lift this morning I was thinking about walking out and just leaving her to do the show by herself,’ co-host Shaun McManus joked on March 12.

He continued: ‘I said, wouldn’t that be funny to start the day, cos’ we’re a man short. Hopefully Nathan will be back very shortly.’

Nathan rose to fame on the 2002 season of Big Brother Australia.

The Kalgoorlie-born fan favourite lasted 56 days in the house before he was evicted. 

Nathan’s breakfast stint at Nova’s 93.7 began in 2003 with Nat Locke. The pair were joined by Shaun McManus in 2009.

In an interview celebrating his 20 years at Nova the popular announcer discussed his career plans.

‘I love the people that I work with, I love our team, so if we keep performing well, my future is going to be Nova,’ he told Media Week in 2023.
