An Australian tourist who was filmed driving a scooter into his Balinese pool villa with a mate while naked has defended the drunken stunt. 

Perth man Raymond RB, 23, posted the controversial footage to his personal Instagram account.  

He posted a second video showing the scooter being pooled from the pool with its engine still working, despite leaking water from its exhaust.

Raymond told 9News the incident was an ‘alcohol-influenced situation’. 

While the video received negative backlash on Facebook, the 23-year-old revealed he owned the scooter as he spent four months in Bali per year.

‘I’m not too bothered by people saying I’m immature,’ he said.

‘I just don’t want people thinking it’s a rental scooter… (that) I’m disrespecting the locals.’

The video was shared to the Bell Tower Times Facebook page and quickly received more than 2,400 comments.

Many Balinese locals took to the comments to complain about the lack of respect.

‘Please…have some respect,’ one user wrote.

‘Aussies who behave like this are just bringing shame and negative image to Oz, and an eyesore too,’ another complained.

‘We as Balinese people really respect every tourist come to visit our island, but sometimes we aren’t respected cause this reason. Oh my,’ one woman wrote.

Another wrote: ‘And people wonder why Aussies aren’t liked in Bali.’
