Naked Perth driver arrested after 15 minute rampage

A naked driver was allegedly tasered twice by police after a 45 minute rampage ended with three elderly people injured and cars and homes were damaged and stained with blood.

The 55-year-old man’s wild crime spree began at 5.30am in Karrinyup, north of Perth, when he entered retirement units on Davenport Street.

It’s not clear what provoked the frenzied run-in but police allege he assaulted a 53-year-old woman, striking her in the head with a brick.

He also punched a second woman in a different home before assaulting her with a pitchfork. She was left injured in the neck and ear by the attack.

It’s also alleged he shattered a glass door pane at a nearby child care centre. A struggle broke out between the man and a 68-year-old contractor who was inside, with the assailant dousing his victim in petrol from a jerry can.

A car in a neighbouring shopping centre also had its back window smashed.

The owner of the house, Evelyn Pack, told 7News she was extremely ‘disappointed’ by the episode and found it frustrating she was left to clean up the mess he left behind.

The man, who wasn’t wearing any clothes, was arrested just 15 minutes after the initial outburst and was seen by residents being tasered twice by police, Perth Now reports.

Blood spatter was reportedly seen on the door of the car, as authorities seized a broom, a jerry can and a wooden pole as part of their ongoing investigation into the unexplained disturbance.

He has been charged with 18 offences, including aggravated burglary, intent to do grievous bodily harm, threaten to kill, criminal damage, reckless driving and common assault.

The 55-year-old was taken to Royal Perth Hospital where he is still being treated.

A hearing will take place at his bedside on Saturday.
