Naomi Watts attends Infinite Storm premiere in NY with Pam Bales, the climber she plays in the movie

On Thursday, two-time Oscar nominee Naomi Watts attended the Manhattan premiere of Infinite Storm with Pam Bales, the ‘extraordinary’ mountain climber she portrays in the movie.

In 2010, Bales braved a blizzard and rescued a suicidal stranger on Mount Washington in New Hampshire while volunteering with the Pemigewasset Valley Search and Rescue Team.

‘This active kindness that she gives to this other person in a very extreme situation [was inspiring]. But also her willingness, you know, her strength and her discipline,’ the 53-year-old actress marveled to TODAY earlier that morning.

Double take! On Thursday, two-time Oscar nominee Naomi Watts (L) attended the Manhattan premiere of Infinite Storm with Pam Bales (R), the ‘extraordinary’ mountain climber she portrays in the movie

‘She was able to put this man before her own needs, which was to survive herself. And I just was blown away by her on the first phone call that we had. She was also tackling her own demons having lost her children, so this was a big story in many ways.

‘And the power of nature, how it heals. It’s such a good reminder of what you can get out there in the quiet of the mountains and the beauty of nature. It’s really wonderful.’

The pair were joined at Regal Union Square by the directing duo Malgorzata Szumowska and Michał Englert.

Naomi looked sophisticated in a white silk blouse, featuring large flower-like folds at the shoulder, and black pleated pants selected by stylist Jeanann Williams.
