Natalie Portman tells story on how her water broke

She welcomed her second child, daughter Amalia, in February 2017.

And while on Jimmy Kimmel Live Thursday, she recalled at the end of her pregnancy when she thought her water broke while picking up her son Aleph from school.

The 36-year-old actress immediately was like ‘It’s on!’ when it happened and called her husband, her doctor and her midwife to go to the hospital, later realizing it was a leaking water bottle from her son’s backpack dripping on her.

While on Jimmy Kimmel Live , Natalie Portman recalled at the end of her second pregnancy when she thought her water just broke while picking up her son Aleph from school

She kicked off her story by saying that her mom was in town to help with her pregnancy since she was due to give birth soon.

Natalie said: ‘We went to pick up my son from school right after I did your show, like a day or two later. And I go and pick him up and I got his backpack on and we’re walking out and I start feeling like…I feel a little water on my leg.’

She continued: ‘And I look up, like is something dripping on me?  And like more and more…because my water didn’t break the first time…so I was like, It’s on!’

Natalie said then more and more water started to appear on her leg and she told her son ‘”Honey we got to go! We got to go!”‘ but he runs off to go play soccer.

So funny: The 36-year-old actress immediately was like 'It's on!' when it happened and called her husband, her doctor and her midwife to go to the hospital and she realized it was a leaking water bottle from her son's backpack dripping on her

At this point, she told her mom to grab her son because they had to go to the hospital immediately.

She said her mom was panicking and running to grab Aleph.

Meanwhile, she goes to the car and calls her husband, Benjamin Millepied, and he leaves work; she calls her doctor and midwife as well.

‘Everyone is going to the hospital and my mom grabs my son and drags him to the car,’ the star continued.

She then realized something wasn’t right: ‘And then I’m like, it’s weird because it’s just my legs that are all wet.’

Natalie told her son to hand her his backpack: ‘I looked and his water bottle was leaking.’

‘And I was like ohhhh! I just told everyone I was having a baby and the water bottle is leaking. I’m an idiot,’ she added, laughing.

Jimmy chimed in: ‘Your water broke and it was Evian.’

She also revealed that her water didn’t end up breaking for her second pregnancy at all.

He then asked: ‘You like the baby so far? to which she laughed and said: ‘She is delightful.’

Natalie said she was due the same week as the 2017 Oscars.

‘So if I went and the baby hadn’t come yet, if I was still pregnant, then I could potentially give birth on the red carpet, which is not a great idea.’

That would be shocking: 'So if I went and the baby hadn't come yet, if I was still pregnant, then I could potentially give birth on the red carpet, which is not a great idea'

Jimmy said: ‘Well I don’t know, Ryan Seacrest would go nuts for something like that.’

Natalie added: ‘But then if I had given birth already it’s not like I’d be like “see ya baby got to go to the Oscars” two days later.’

Jimmy said: ‘Probably people would say oh what is she doing at the Oscars, she just had a baby.’

Natalie quipped: ‘Best actress, worst mom.’

She ended up giving birth on February 22, 2017 to daughter Amalia Millepied.

The 2017 Oscars took place four days later on February 26.

The star later added that her son Aleph, six, and his friends came with her to Jimmy Kimmel and met their heroes.

‘He’s thrilled and you made me like mom of the year thank you because he and his buddies got to meet Nick Foles and Kyrie Irving.’

Nick is the quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, who just won the Super Bowl earlier this month; Kyrie is a basketball player on the Boston Celtics.
