According to news.com.au, Shaw had little time with his family and girlfriend before he had to say goodbye.

His 25-year-old partner looked glum as the sentence was imposed before she farewelled her lover, mouthing ‘I love you’ as he was being led away.

During the final remarks at Gosford Courthouse on Wednesday, Judge David Wilson said Shaw was operating an ‘unsophisticated’ drug ring.

He told the court packages filled with MDMA and ice were found with Shaw’s fingerprints covering them.

Further charges, including the supply of cocaine and ice, were also considered by Judge Wilson in the sentencing.

‘This offending was committed after the offender was charged for offences emanating from the importation of steroids. He was on bail for those offences while doing those offences,’ Judge Wilson said.

In 2018, undercover police bought drugs off Shaw, which were then exchanged at service stations or McDonald’s car parks.

Shaw advised his customers that payment was to be deposited in the Commonwealth Bank account of his girlfriend’s business, Luxe Lashes.

Shaw was arrested in July 2018 in south-west Sydney after police found $200,000 in his car. A search of his home then uncovered steroids and drug paraphernalia.

He was charged with eight counts of drug supply and knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime following the arrest.

‘The dealing was unsophisticated. It was pretty much street level dealing,’ Judge Wilson said.

The couple were first arrested in November 2016 following a raid conducted by officers from the Australian Border Force.

After raiding the pair’s rented granny flat, officers found steroids Shaw was selling – including 11.2 litres of testosteone, 20 vials of human growth hormone and 600ml of anabolic steroids.

He was convicted of eight counts of drug supply, while Barlin was charged with concealing the offence.

Shaw was sentenced in May to 18 months behind bars for the crimes and had a non-parole period of seven months.

In June last year, Barlin wrote an emotional letter to the court, accompanied by a psychological report that claimed she suffered from mild body dysmorphia.

Barlin’s solicitor Michael Mantaj said her low self-esteem was a result of being bullied during her childhood for being an ‘ugly duckling’.

She had been jailed for 14 months – with a non-parole period of six months – after concealing Shaw’s drug syndicate.

On appeal, the 24-year-old had the non-parole period reduced to three months and was allowed to serve the reduced sentence in the community.
