Nathan Lyon sells his $1.2million luxury home after messy split with Mel Waring

Weeks after it failed to sell at auction Australian cricketer’s million-dollar home has finally sold for $1,085,000.

Australian test cricketer Nathan Lyon hoped to sell the Sydney house in Vaucluse for $1.2 million at auction but bids did not meet the reserve.

The sale comes after Lyon made headlines when he split with Melissa Waring, his long-term partner and the mother of his two children.

Lyon left Ms Waring to start a relationship with blonde real estate agent Emma McCarthy.

The 30-year-old has since been seen kissing his new girlfriend and holidaying overseas together.

A source close to Lyon insisted at the time he had done nothing wrong.

‘Nathan and Mel aren’t together, and have been separated for some time,’ the insider told Daily Mail Australia.

‘Nathan and Emma are in a committed relationship, Nathan is very much in love with Emma.’

‘It is 100 per cent not an affair, it’s an open and committed relationship and everyone is aware of it, but it is being kept private for the sake of Nathan’s kids.’

Lyon purchased the Sydney house in 2015 for $1.1 million in an area that was seeing double digit growth in the two years prior, Domain reported.

Double Bay real estate agent Brad Pillinger, of Pillinger, facilitated the sale but declined to comment.

The slight drop in expected property value is said to be standard for the ‘softening Vaucluse apartment market’.

Domain data indicated a 0.5 per cent drop in property value for the suburb.
