A Nationals MP in one of the government’s most marginal seats has been caught liking sexist and raunchy Facebook pages.

Michael Johnsen, who represents the rural, conservative Upper Hunter electorate, liked the social media pages with the titles Kinky Humour and Uncensored Adults.

With just five days until the New South Wales state election, Daily Mail Australia has uncovered his Facebook page’s likes for dubious pages, which include memes mocking women.

Mr Johnsen admitted to Daily Mail Australia his individual Facebook page ‘Michael Johnsen MP’ had liked the social media sites but denied endorsing the content.

‘Liking or following a page does not mean I endorse its content,’ he said on Monday.

‘I did not click on or “like” any of those memes sent in your email, but given those examples you provided however, and which I did not see they had posted, I have disliked those pages.

‘Thank you for bringing it to my attention.’

The Nationals MP unliked the Facebook pages after being contacted by Daily Mail Australia but declined to explain if he or someone else had like them on his social media account.

His ‘Michael Johnsen MP’ Facebook page is separate to his official political social media account.

Another meme from this social media group also suggested a woman’s role was to be available for sex and domestic duties.

‘A real woman is a freak in bed. A chef in the kitchen,’ it said.

Mr Johnsen’s Facebook account had also liked Uncensored Adults.

This social media page contained the meme: ‘Touch my butt and make me pizza’ over an image of a denim-wearing woman’s bottom.

Mr Johnsen, a first-term backbencher, holds the seat of Upper Hunter, north-west of Newcastle, by a slender 2.2 per cent margin.

The rural electorate, taking in the coal-mining towns of Muswellbrook and Singleton, has not been a Labor-held seat since 1910.

Despite its long, conservative history, it is the National Party’s most marginal electorate in NSW going into this Saturday’s election.

It is also the Coalition government’s second most marginal seat as the Liberal and National parties seek to win a third consecutive term in office for the first time since 1971.

Mr Johnsen’s 30-year marriage ended in late 2015, nine months after he was elected to Parliament.

His estranged wife Zenda Johnsen last year revealed politics had destroyed their marital union.

Adding to his woes, he faced a Nationals preselection challenge last year from Scone councillor James Burns.

Mr Johnsen’s state electorate overlaps with former deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce’s New England seat, whose own 24-year marriage broke up following revelations he had started a relationship with his former media adviser Vikki Campion.
