A secret lit-up garden is set to launch in Sydney, complete with theatrical lighting, a live string quartet and themed cocktails.
Augmented reality technology will transform the heritage-listed Chinese Garden of Friendship near Sydney’s Darling Harbour into a reflection of the four seasons from 22 July to 1 October dubbed Nature Illuminated.
Guests can walk through the gardens with a themed cocktail in hand and play a one-hour treasure hunt to find AR sprites and an assortment of plants and animals for a reward, all while listening to gentle string music.

There are several different packages available for those who want to visit the lit-up Chinese Garden of Friendship this winter.
You can either visit and participate in the treasure hunt, or you can select the dining option and also enjoy a 90-minute feast at The Gardens by Lotus, a Teahouse-style dining space offering a selection of Chinese cuisine including dumplings.
Packages go on sale on Tuesday May 18 if you join the waiting list now, and they will be released to the general public at a later date.
Tickets will cost $50 for adults and $30 for children.

The Chinese Garden of Friendship was originally built to symbolise the friendship between Sydney and the city of Guangzhou.
It was formally opened as part of Australia’s Bicentennial Celebrations on 17 January 1988.
The Garden was designed by Chinese landscape architects and built by Australian craftsmen and specialists.

Unlike traditional western-style gardens, there are no formally laid out flowerbeds or manicured lawns.
Instead, wild aspects of nature are recreated in landscapes that feature waterfalls, mountains, lakes, and forests.
