Naughty Boy lives up to his name as he smuggles spices into the camp in his socks

Naughty Boy lived up to his name when he snuck spices to season his food into the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! camp on Sunday night.

The 36-year-old DJ and producer – whose real name is Shahid Khan – confessed that he’d grinded up the extra ingredients and hidden them in his sock.

The star added he’d pulled the sneaky move in an attempt to make his allocated rice and beans ration tastier.

Speaking to the camera, Naughty Boy explained:  ‘Before I left, I grinded some spices that could make rice and beans actually taste a bit nice so what I did, I put it in my sock.’

He gushed of his contraband: ‘There’s cumin seeds, cloves, turmeric, coriander seeds. If you could smell this. Wow. And black peppercorns.’

The star later told his campmates: ‘I had whole organic spices so I crushed some and I put it in cling film and I put it in my sock.

‘I thought I was going to add it to the rice and beans and make it taste better but I asked them if it was ok if I used a bit because we’re suffering enough as it is and they confiscated it.’

The other celebrities looked at him as he explained – as Danny Miller said: ‘Yeah they will’ while Richard Madeley added: ‘It was really good of you to think of us like that.’

The former This Morning presenter later mused:  ‘Well, Naughty Boy had really lived up to his name. He smuggled in something for camp. I think that’s a real mark of character actually.

‘And we’ve got to bend the rules a bit here and I can promise you, having spoken to everybody here, this is not going to be the last time that the rules are bent.’

I’m A Celebrity contestants survive on rationed meals, which often contain as little as 700 calories per day.

Naughty Boy isn’t the first campmate to attempt to spice up his rice and beans, as Gillian McKeith famously smuggled forbidden supplies in her knickers in 2010.

The You Are What You Eat host managed to carry herbs, spices, stock cubes and teabags into the camp in special pants with pockets that she created herself.

Elsewhere on the show, it all proved too much for Snoochie Shy as she found herself screaming in terror while hanging above an abandoned quarry.

The radio DJ, 29, and some of her fellow celebrities had to take it in pairs to walk across a rig in the Walk The Plank task in order to hit a button with their feet when it turned green.

However, Snoochie got more than she bargained for when her plank started to wobble as soon as she stepped on, prompting her to shout: ‘I’m gonna drop!’

The celebs were taken from Gwrych Castle, to secluded field near Caernarfon, a distance of around 40 miles.

Co-host Ant McPartlin said of the challenge: ‘This year is going to be tougher than ever, all the celebrities will face grueling challenges on their way to the castle to win the keys to the Castle.’

Declan Donnelly added: ‘And you will all face the first challenge, but not as a team. Instead, you will be going head to head. In this first challenge Louise [Minchin] you will face Danny [Miller] and Naughty Boy you will face Snoochie.’

Louise Minchin and Danny Miller were the first up for the task, with Dec saying: ‘You can both make your way along the plank and into the yellow game play zone.’

‘Come on girl you got this man,’ Danny said to Louise.

‘It’s amazing how suddenly walking in a straight line get so much harder, Dec remarked as he watched the stars struggle through the challenge.

Snoochie then took her turn alongside Naughty Boy and quickly started to panic as the plank wobbled.

‘You’re in the game play zone. Remember when you see the light turn green that’s when you hit the button in front of you with your feet,’ Dec said.

‘Oh my God!’ Snoochie screamed as she started to wobble again with Ant saying: ‘Oh she’s going’.

Naughty Boy’s ingenious smuggling methods come after he shared his excitement to shine a light on being a British Pakistani Muslim during his time on the show.

Speaking about how his mother feels ahead of his stint on the ITV show, Naughty Boy told MailOnline: ‘So excited. Last year we were all a bit anxious, she was anxious.

‘This year she’s happy. She was saying for me not to worry about her and just enjoy my time.

‘She told me to just be me and make sure I keep praying. I pray every morning. I’m British Pakistani Muslim and I do wanna shine my light there and get to know each others’ faiths.

The music star also explained why he didn’t join the line-up last year, admitting: ‘Last year life wasn’t permitting for me to do I’m A Celebrity last year.

‘It was too risky for me to leave my mum for that period of time. And if it was in Australia I don’t think I’d be able to do it. This year it’s so much easier.’

The talented DJ also opened up about how time spent during the pandemic caring for his mother – who suffers with dementia – helped to prepare him for I’m A Celebrity.

Family man: The producer and DJ - whose real name is Shahid Khan - also revealed that his mum Zahida, 66, told him to keep praying each morning while in the castle

He explained: ‘The first lockdown – I usually have cleaners in my house but they weren’t able to come – so it was just me, my mum and her carers.

‘I had to adapt to a new kind of normal – we all did. I became more homely. I became more caring natured.

‘I’d go to my neighbours and drop them packs of paracetamol and doing whatever I can. That’s prepared me. I want to be of service. I want to be the chef of the castle because I started to learn how to cook. I know what skills I can bring.’

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! airs on Sunday at 9pm on ITV.
