Los Angeles Clippers swingman Amir Coffey has been arrested for firearms possession in Hollywood following a routine traffic stop.
The 26-year-old Minnesota native was reportedly a passenger in a car that was pulled over in Hollywood around 2:30am, DailyMail.com has confirmed. Officers claimed they smelled marijuana, prompting a search, which uncovered a loaded gun. Coffey allegedly admitted that the firearm belonged to him and he was arrested for misdemeanor firearm possession.
Los Angeles County jail records show that Coffey was booked at around 5am and later released on his own recognizance.
Another passenger was cited for marijuana in a moving vehicle, according to police records provided to DailyMail.com.
Team spokespeople did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com’s request for comment.
