NBN customers flood Facebook with complaints on internet

Outraged NBN customers are flocking to the internet provider’s Facebook page in droves to complain about the service, as thousands around the country struggle to even perform a basic Google search.

From being forced to take six days off work before installers arrive, to speeds being as slow as dial-up and businesses having their phone lines cut, the experiences are nothing short of nightmarish.

But having spent close to $94 billion on the roll out, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull last month admitted it the enormous infrastructure project was actually a mistake.

And a quick scout of the NBN’s Facebook page reveals that many customers feel the same, with hundreds slamming the failures of the government provider every week.

Jake Luther was forced to take six days off work before an NBN team finally came out to his home in Adelaide, South Australia, to complete the installation.

But he told Daily Mail Australia even now his internet problems are far from solved.

‘I’ve taken six days off with work them coming out and then palming it back saying: “Something else has to be done”,’ Mr Luther said.

‘It’s actually all physically wired up according to the Telstra tech, (but) they just told me today it won’t be resolved until the 1st of February.’

Highlighting the troubles facing the network, Mr Luther said at one point one of the NBN technicians even admitted to him that the system was a ‘joke’.

‘The technician turns around and says the entire network is a joke what hope do you really have,’ he said.

Others have also had it tough, with one business recently being left without a phone line for two days after it was accidentally cut by NBN technicians.

‘An NBN contractor came to our business yesterday… short story it didn’t happen and he disconnected our phone line. Our business has no phones,’ a shop owner wrote.

Another young woman claims she had to pay $200 extra on her phone bill because she was forced to use it to access the internet when the NBN wouldn’t connect.

‘I’ve clocked up more than $200 worth of data over my current plan because I can’t connect to the internet in my own bedroom,’ the woman wrote.

‘I also cannot make a call from anywhere in my house without it cutting out the person on the receiving end.’

One angry customer even suggested they got quicker internet speeds from their portable internet modem.

The continuing troubles facing the NBN come just months after it was revealed many of the areas to which the internet has been rolled out are not residential.

A map of coverage around Nambucca Heads, in New South Wales, showed wireless was available across the whole town except for areas that actually contained houses.

The completion date for the nationwide roll out of the NBN is estimated to be 2020.
