Nearly 100 police officers have slept with prostitutes, groped members of the public, and been called ‘sex pests’ by colleagues- but have been allowed to keep their job.

Police in England and Wales have had 96 officers punished for sexual harassment, a Freedom of Information Act request revealed.

However 61 per cent were not fired for their actions.

Derbyshire, West Yorkshire and West Midlands were the top forces with the highest number of police officers to have been disciplined for sexual harassment in the past three years.

A police officer in Lancashire was called a ‘sex pest’ by colleagues and a West Yorkshire police officer started a relationship with a prostitute.

One officer in Devon and Cornwall was given a warning after they kissed a vulnerable victim.

And another in Staffordshire had groped a member of the public after making lewd sexual comments.

Julie Cooper, Labour MP for Burnley, has blasted the ‘shocking’ revelation.

She told The Sun: ‘This is quite shocking. I would want to see strong action taken against anyone who commits acts of sexual harassment. Police can’t be above the law.’

This comes after a female police officer is sued Metropolitan Police in March after she was sent a naked picture of her colleague.

The officer claims she was forced to turn down the sexual advances of the man who flirted with her and sent her naked pictures of himself with an erect penis.
