Neighbours star Melissa Bell admits she ‘wasn’t looking for love’ as she tries on wedding dresses ahead of marrying fiancé Grant Thompson – after the tragic death of her late husband Gary Dickinson

Neighbours star Melissa Bell is going to be a blushing bride when she marries her new fiancé Grant Thompson later this year. 

The 48-year-old posed up for a photoshoot for New Idea this week while trying on wedding dresses at a Bridal boutique in Queensland, ahead of her November nuptials. 

The actress and E! Street star reflected on her new romance and said she ‘wasn’t looking for love’ when Grant came into her life, shortly after the death of her late husband Gary Dickinson in 2016.

‘I wasn’t looking for it, but it’s a gift,’ Melissa told New Idea this week. 

Melissa said that she knows that Gary would be happy for her moving on with her life. 

Gary suffered a major heart attack in late 2015 and was left in a coma, before tragically dying in February 2016. They shared three children together.

'I think he would be happy for me because Gary was that sort of person and, if the roles were reversed, I would want him to find love again,' Melissa said, adding that no one is 'here to replace Gary'

The blonde added: ‘I do miss him every day and there are still times I am triggered, but that’s okay, and you have to be positive and think: “He wants me to keep going”.’

She wore a variety of looks including a plunging white lace dress and a plunging satin design.

Melissa told the publication that after losing Gary, she just went on a ‘self-discovery road’ to find out who she was.

‘I believe what I have gone through, it’s almost like Gary is giving me back my life to move on. That’s what he would want me to do,’ she explained. 

She also has another son from a previous marriage.
