Neil Patrick Harris slammed for calling teenage Nick Jonas ‘good-looking’

Neil Patrick Harris has come under fire for calling Nick Jonas ‘really good-looking’ when he was a teenager in ‘completely inappropriate’ resurfaced comments.

The actor, 49, has been criticised on social media for a 2015 interview, where he said he had a ‘crush’ on Nick, now 30, when the star was still a teenager.

In the interview, Neil, who was 42 at the time, was asked who his ‘celebrity crush’ was during an appearance on The Wendy Williams Show.

He named singer Nick as his crush and spoke about finding him ‘good-looking’ before it was ‘allowed’, saying it was a ‘bit of a problem’.

‘He was really good-looking before it was kind of allowed to think he was good-looking,’ Neil said after a pause.

‘Which was a bit of a problem, you kind of had to wait ’til he turned to be, y’know… 19, 20, you’re like: ‘What is happening?”

The How I Met Your Mother star admitted that his husband David Burtka, who he married in 2014, knew about his celebrity crush.

‘David knows it, so I guess it’s not a bad thing to say,’ he added during the ‘hot seat’ challenge.

Nick, who rose to fame as a Disney child star and a third of the Jonas Brothers when he was 12 years old, was aged 23 when the interview was filmed.

However, Neil’s resurfaced comments have been met by a furious backlash from fans after the interview was shared to TikTok.

Some fans slammed Neil for his ‘completely inappropriate’ and ‘problematic’ comments, while others criticised the audience for laughing.
