Netflix have allegedly confirmed Black Mirror will return for a fifth season in 2019, following the release of the franchise’s acclaimed interactive film Bandersnatch.
Buzzfeed TV editor Scott Bryan took to Twitter on Saturday to share the news, as he revealed that video-on-demand platform had informed him a new series would be released soon.
He wrote: ‘Netflix has told me that the fifth season of Black Mirror is still to come in 2019. Bandersnatch was not the fifth season, but a standalone interactive film, in case you were wondering.’

Netflix had already revealed their plans for a new season of the show in March when they renewed the show for a fifth outing.
The series, penned by Charlie Brooker, has become a huge hit, with episodes USS Callister and San Junipero winning eight awards each in 2018 and 2017 respectively.
While no other news is available yet, pop star Miley Cyrus has indirectly confirmed she will be appearing on an upcoming episode of the sci-fi series.

Making an appearance on SiriusXM earlier this month, she was asked about her rumoured cameo on the series, to which she replied: ‘If you guess it, then I will shake my head yes, or no.’
The radio host Howard Stern said the We Can’t Stop singer nodded her head to confirm she’d be in the show, to which Cyrus added that she couldn’t say much more about it.
‘I’m really actually excited for everyone to watch the “head-shaking project” we said yes to,’ she said. ‘The minute I say I never want to do something again, all of a sudden, there I am.’
Netflix have yet to confirm whether she will appear in the next series, as the creators and producers have consistently been tight-lipped about all of the episodes until they are released to the public.

Even though viewers couldn’t help but sing their praises for the show, others pointed out their struggle to choose the ‘right’ options for lead character Stefan.
