New Jersey fire chief caught on camera during DUI arrest

  • William Young of Rahway, New Jersey, was arrested in November
  • He was administered a series of field sobriety tests, which he failed
  • Young reportedly had urine on his pants and vomited again in his holding cell
  • Young’s blood alcohol content was .12, over the legal limit to drive

The fire chief in a New Jersey town was caught on camera after a DUI arrest, and the video paints an unflattering picture of him as he vomited and urinated on himself.

Rahway fire chief William Young was charged with DUI in November after officers stopped him on the side of the road. Police conducted field sobriety tests, which Young failed, according to the New York Daily News.

Young told officers he wasn’t intoxicated and that he hadn’t urinated on himself.

Young was arrested with a blood alcohol content of .12, over the legal limit to drive

According to the report, Young’s blood alcohol content was .12, more than the legal limit of .08.

When asked about his activities that evening, Young said he had a few drinks at a party.

The arresting officer wrote that Young ‘appeared to be nauseous and was constantly dry heaving’ in his police report.

Young also vomited twice in his holding cell and fell asleep before his wife came to pick him up at the police precinct.

The mayor of the New Jersey town said that Young still has his job, but he wouldn’t elaborate.

Young is the second Rahway official to run into problems with traffic enforcement recently – former mayor Samson Steinman crashed city cars twice in both 2016 and 2017. He was charged with driving with an expired license in the first accident and careless driving and failing to produce proof of insurance in the second.
