Thomas Tramaglini, 42, a New Jersey school superintendent, was arrested on April 30 after he defecated on a high school field
The New Jersey mystery pooper says he plans to debunk ‘falsehoods’ about him in court.
Thomas Tramaglini, 42, the Kenilworth school superintendent, was arrested on April 30 after he was caught on camera defecating on another school’s running track and field.
Tramaglini, who has worked as school district superintendent since 2015, says not all allegations against him are truthful, according to his attorney.
‘My client looks forward to his day in court when he can rebut some of the falsehoods that have been portrayed about him in the media,’ his lawyer Michael S. Adams said Thursday, according to Nj.com.
Adams said he will elaborate on the rebuttals in court on May 30.
Concern was first raised at Holmdel High School when the track team coaches reported finding human feces on or near the high school’s track and football field ‘on a daily basis’, Holmdel police said.
The school set up cameras and on Monday April 30 Tramaglini was caught taking an early morning poop on the football field.
He was allegedly caught pooping at the Holmdel High School football field (pictured) around 5.50am on the Monday morning of April 30 by surveillance cameras
He was arrested that morning at 5:50am and was charged with lewdness and littering as well as public urination or defecation.
Holmdel High School is not in Tramaglini’s district.
Police say the superintendent, who is also a marathon runner, jogged on Holmdel’s campus almost every morning, where he left his poop on the field, according to CBS.
It is not clear why he defecated regularly on the field as there were four porta-potties nearby. One is located in the school parking lot and another near the track.
How long he led his public pooping stint is also unclear.
The Holmdel Police Department formerly told DailyMail.com that they were unable to comment on how long the incidents had been happening.
After the incident the school district announced Tramaglini was granted paid leave on May 2.
The married, father-of-two makes $147,504 a year and will be on paid leave through June 30.
His attorney says Tramaglini will ‘rebut some of the falsehoods that have been portrayed about him in the media’ when he appears in court on May 30
‘Earlier today, we learned of municipal court charges facing our current superintendent of schools in Holmdel, NJ. Given the nature of those charges, he asked for and was granted a paid leave of absence. (Leaves can only be without pay in the face of indictments or tenure charges, as a matter of state law.),’ the school said.
Brian Luciani, the district’s Director of Academics, has taken up the role of superintendent in his absence.
‘The Board of Education wants to assure faculty and staff, students and parents, that the district will continue its responsibilities without interruption,’ the statement added.
In light of his arrest Tramaglini has closed his social media accounts.
However he has been seen going for a run around his townhouse in Aberdeen, about three miles from the school, according to Nj.com since the incident.
Tramaglini was unanimously appointed to lead the Kenilworth School District by the Kenilworth Board of Education in 2015.
He replaced former superintendent Scott Taylor who resigned in August 2015.
Tramaglini is also a part-time lecturer for the Rutgers Graduate School of Education, where he makes $5,277 per year.
He has a Ph.D in Educational Administration and a master’s degree from Rutgers, and a bachelor’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson.
