New Jersey waitress gets $1,200 tip from gracious couple

A couple tipped a New Jersey waitress $1,200 on a $20 bill.

Brianna Siegel, 21, could not stop smiling as she told her fellow waitress at Bar Louie in Woodbridge about a table she waited.

‘I didn’t know if it was real if it was a scam,’ she said.

A couple left an envelope with waitress Brianna Siegel after paying their $20 bill. In the envelope was a note and a check for $1,200 made out to Siegel

The couple asked Siegel not to open the envelope until they were gone. She thought it might be a prayer card because the couple seemed very religious

The couple in their 20s came in for happy hour and sat in Siegel’s section on August 22. They ordered two burgers and two drinks.

‘They turned to me and said, “Do you believe in God?”‘ she said.

The couple paid their $20 bill, and handed Siegel an envelope and told her not to open it until they were gone.

Siegel forgot about it until she got to her boyfriend’s house. She thought it might be a prayer card because the couple seemed very religious.

But then, she opened it.

She told CBS2 she nearly fell on her knees when she found a check made out to her for $1,200.

The note reads: ‘Bri, God cared for you. This is not a coincidence. Peter 5:7 “Cast all your cares on him because he cares for you”. I pray that you are the best RN out there. Whenever it gets hard, know God got you. – B+W.’

CBS2 spoke to the couple who wish to remain anonymous. They said that God told them to give the money to a stranger who touched them.

‘I really had no words, I didn’t know what to say,’ Siegel said.

She plans to use the money toward nursing school and a new car.

Brianna said the couple ordered two burgers and two drinks, racking up a tab of only $20. They asked: 'Do you believe in God?'
