New Jersey woman, 27, charged with stabbing and killing her identical twin sister – a ‘devoted’ mother-of-three

  • Amanda Ramirez, of Camden, NJ, was charged with aggravated manslaughter
  • The 27-year-old was arrested for stabbing her identical twin, Anna, to death

A 27-year-old woman was arrested and charged with stabbing her identical twin to death on Saturday in Camden, New Jersey.   

Amanda Ramirez was charged with aggravated manslaughter in the fatal stabbing of her sister, Anna Ramirez, at around 5:30 a.m. in the Centennial Village Apartments complex on the 1200 block of East State Street, according to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police said they received a call of an unconscious woman at the address and discovered Anna with stab wound to her chest. 

She was taken to Cooper University Hospital and was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

Officials did not release details about the motive in the stabbing.

Her sister, Amanda, was later arrested and taken to the Camden County Correctional Facility. 

Prosecutor’s office did not announce the charge until Monday.  

She is awaiting a pretrial hearing to determine whether she will be allowed to post bond.

According to Anna’s online obituary, she was a ‘devoted mother’ of three daughters. 

A GoFundMe page described her death as an ‘extremely painful and unexpected tragedy’, and says Anna ‘was known and loved by her peers’ and that she had a ‘humble demeanor, kindness and willingness to give with a pure heart’.

There are three other sisters in her family apart from the twins.

The website says Anna ‘worked for many years in the medical field as a certified nursing assistant’.

She ‘enjoyed family dinners and weekly time hanging out with her sisters’.  

Her funeral is set to take place on Thursday in Pennsauken. 

Loved ones posting on her Facebook page expressed disbelief at her death. 

One person wrote: ‘Rip Anna my prayers are with your kids and family this is just unsettling I’m praying for these baby girls yours and your sisters I’m praying for your sister this don’t add up.’
