New photographs of Disney’s Star Wars and Toy Story lands

Incredible new aerial pictures have provided a sneak peek of the construction of three new major attractions at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

The images shed further light on what the Toy Story Land expansion and the two Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge lands might look like when they open in the coming months and in 2019.

The Toy Story Land and one of the Star Wars parks are set to open at Hollywood Studios – a theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida – while the other Star Wars attraction is being built at Disneyland in Anaheim, California.

Disney has already released models, renderings and a limited number of pictures of what all of the attractions will look like when they open to the public

But these recent aerial snaps, taken by mapping service Nearmap – an international provider of high resolution aerial imagery – give Disney fans a much better idea of how the parks are shaping up.

The company usually provides images to solar energy companies, property developers, architecture firms and construction companies and also ensures that gradual changes in areas are preserved.

And in its pictures of Toy Story Land, fans will see that lots of progress is being made with the centre-piece – the Slinky roller coaster.

Meanwhile, masses of scaffolding and construction workers can be seen in the shots taken in both Florida and California of Galaxy’s Edge.

Visitors to the 11-acre Toy Story Land expansion, which opens in Florida this summer, will ‘think they’ve been shrunk to the size of Woody and Buzz as they are surrounded by over-sized toys’ according to Disney.

Attractions will be based on the lovable characters made famous by the 1995 movie and its sequels.

It will include a Slinky Dog Dash roller coaster and Woody’s Lunch Box eatery.

The Star Wars: Galaxy Edge’s lands are set to open in 2019 in both theme parks, and Disney says it will ‘transport guests to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life’.

Galaxy’s Edge focuses on two major rides, allowing guests to lead their own adventures. The first is a battle between the Resistance and the First Order. The second allows riders to take control of the Millennium Falcon.

The attraction will first open at Disneyland, California, in 2019, followed by a second, identical location at Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World.

In 2016, Shanghai Disneyland opened, while in May 2017 the new World of AVATAR attraction at Disney World’s Animal Kingdom in Florida was launched.
