The retired shearer was found on Three Mile Road at Lightning Ridge just before midday.

The 55-year-old was in a critical condition on the road when he was transported to Lightning Ridge Hospital.

The grandfather was then flown to St George Hospital where he later died.

Milo was described as a ‘larrikin’ who loved dogs, his family, AC/DC and a beer with his friends.

His daughter, Samantha Brack said her father ‘wasn’t perfect and anyone that knew him knew that’.

‘He was loved by many loathed by many but – in saying that – he made every one of them smile with his Milo antics,’ she said.

She said: ‘We will miss our dad and our children will miss their Poppy Milo. And I know he will be missed by more than he would have expected.’

Milo and Chenoa Charters are believed to have known each other before the incident.

Ms Charters was refused bail and is expected at Walgett Local Court on Monday.
