New South Wales woman who dropped from size 26 to 10 now calls herself ‘sexy’

A 36-year-old woman who dramatically halved her weight, going from dress size of 26 to 10, now calls herself ‘sexy’.

Rebecca Hawkins used to be a ‘big girl’ weighing 169 kilograms, but is now just 73 kilograms and married with two children.  

An image she saw of herself at the funeral of her father – who died from a heart attack – inspired the weight loss journey.

The New South Wales woman told Daily Mail Australia she achieved her remarkable weight loss through her diet and going to the gym almost every day.

‘I did a high protein diet – no carbs after 5pm and gym four days a week,’ she said.

‘It’s taken me four years to get where I am today.’ 

The inspiring woman told Channel Nine she can now walk down the street and ‘feel on top of the world’.

 The 36-year-old has advice for others wanting to lose weight -  'don't make excuses.'

 ‘I used to hide because being big was just me. I didn’t think I could achieve what I’ve achieved. It’s a life-long commitment,’ she said.  

‘I didn’t exercise. I ate rubbish. I got bullied at school. I was the fat person.’ 

Now married to husband Aaron, who she met at 120kg, she has two sons, JD, 8, and Braxton, 5.

She had a setback at the time of the birth of her second child when she went through post-natal depression and her mum died of cancer.

But she overcame that battle and now finds room to eat foods like chocolate,while sticking to a strict exercise plan involving three or four gym sessions per week

Her advice for others wanting to lose weight is ‘don’t make excuses.’ 

‘People make excuses and say they don’t have time, it’s not going to happen overnight,’ she told Channel Nine.
