New Tottenham EPL manager Ange Postecoglou scores windfall after selling lavish Melbourne mansion

New Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has already made himself a fortune ahead of his move to the EPL giant, selling his lavish Melbourne mansion for over $3.5million.

The Aussie coach is leaving Celtic to make the move to White Hart Lane, with the historic move announced on Tuesday.

But he didn’t need to wait until the deal was finalised to score himself a financial windfall, with his massive Tuscan-style mansion in the exclusive Melbourne suburb of Toorak going for more than $3.5million, sources told realestate.com.au.

Postecoglou and wife Georgia purchased the three-bedroom property in the leafy eastern suburb for $3million in 2016.

The lavish property has a large double garage, indoor swimming pool, spa and gym; while the gardens were designed by renowned landscaper, Paul Bangay.

The star of the conveniently located house is the kitchen, which features a massive marble island bench, Miele appliances and an glamorous chandelier; with French doors opening out onto a substantial terrace.

It was a brilliant result for Postecoglou, with the property selling for well over the initial $3-$3.3million price guide just after he guided Celtic to their second Scottish Premiership title in a row.

Selling agent Darren Lewenburg, from Kay and Burton Stonnington, said the star Aussie manager and his wife were stoked with the result.

‘They’re incredibly pleased … the sum was substantially in excess of the original asking price,’ Lewenburg told News Corp.

‘We had an enormous amount of numbers through but one buyer was very eager and had all their finances organised, and they provided an offer which was certainly acceptable to the vendor. Everyone was very, very pleased.’

It’s an exciting time for the 57-year-old, who has risen through the managerial ranks at lightning speed since coaching the Roar to back-to-back A-League titles in 2011 and 2012 after a long career in the now-defunct National Soccer League.

Since signing with Glasgow-based giants Celtic in 2021, he has won five of six domestic trophies on offer at the stunning winning percentage of 77 per cent.

Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke, who is well-versed in Aussie football politics thanks to his playing and coaching stints Down Under, told Daily Mail that he was expecting Postecoglou to crush it at Tottenham, despite the detractors.

‘Because he’s (Postecoglou) been successful, I know people will probably try to undermine the level of teams in Scotland,’ Yorke said in the exclusive interview.

‘But at the end of the day, you can only beat the teams in front of you. And he’s been able to do that consistently.

‘He has done a remarkable job.

Every manager ideally would like to be in the best league, and the best league is in the Premier League. So no surprise that he was linked to a possible job.’

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is also confident the Aussie can turn around the fortunes of the flailing club, who hasn’t won a trophy since 2008.

‘Ange brings a positive mentality and a fast, attacking style of play,’ he said.

‘He has a strong track record of developing players and an understanding of the importance of the link from the academy — everything that is important to our club.

‘We are excited to have Ange join us as we prepare for the season ahead.’

Postecoglou will officially join Tottenham on July 1, and remarkably his first game in charge will be in Australia, when Spurs take on West Ham in a friendly on July 18.
