New Yorker berates Muslim woman on a public bus

Shocking video shows a woman berating a Muslim woman on a New York City public bus. 

The video was recorded on a bus from Staten Island to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and posted to YouTube on Wednesday.

At the start of the clip, the woman is seated and is yelling at the woman in a hijab ‘I’m a citizen’.

The video was posted to YouTube on Wednesday and depicts an incident that happened on a bus from Brooklyn to Staten Island

The Muslim woman tries to tell her she’s a citizen as well but is shouted over. 

‘When are you putting the middle finger up at me? Are you mad?’ the woman yells. 

‘You a citizen, you a citizen’ the woman mocks. ‘You f****** speak English?’ 

When the woman notices the person recording the video, she yells out: ‘Hi, I’m Ashley, you’re taping me. I’m getting into a fight with some Muslim chick because she has an attitude because she thinks she has rights that she doesn’t have.’ 

She then turns back to the Muslim woman. 

‘Immigration at the door. Oh wait, is that ICE? Oh mama, they here for you,’ the woman says. 

Neither woman has been identified.     

The person who took the video told Gothamist that Islamaphobic woman claimed the woman in the hijab gave her a dirty look. She then screamed at her to move away from the bus’s door.

‘The screaming woman then begins to spew Muslim stereotypes, and says to the woman with the stroller that “ICE should take her kids away,”‘ the witness said. ‘I believe at this point the woman with the stroller told the screaming woman something along the lines of “you’re an immigrant too,” at which point I turned on my phone’s camera.’

‘A short time after the video ends, the bus driver intervenes over the intercom and the situation is defused. My stop came shortly after; so I don’t know if there were any further incidents,’ the cameraman added.
