New Zealand Dunedin McDonald’s video ‘exposing sham ripping of customers’

A man has caused an uproar online after claiming to have revealed how McDonald’s is ripping off customers to the tune of ‘millions of dollars.’

The New Zealand man, who forced his girlfriend to film his impassioned tirade against the fast food chain has captured the attention of thousands of people online.

In the video, which was shared online, he is filmed sitting in a Dunedin McDonald’s and claims to have uncovered a plot by the company to fleece money off it’s customers by downsizing the buns.

‘Okay we’ve just ordered a Big Mac and a cheese burger. Her is our receipt – everything’s there,’ he tells the camera.

He then admits that the staff have already told him the patties are the same size yet says he purchased both of them to do his own comparison.

‘Baby you need to hold it up,’ he says to his girlfriend who seems unimpressed with his patty experiment.

‘This is appalling, this is New Zealand. This is meant to be a Big Mac not a small mac,’ he says point to the freshly made burger.

His girlfriend asks him if he’s finished his rant before he replied: ‘No you keep recording please, this is applauding.’

The big reveal, already given away by the staff, is that the buns are in fact the same size.

‘My cheese burger bun is the same size as my Big Mac bun,’ he says as he twirls the two together.

‘They are making big macs in New Zealand with cheese burger buns, with sesame seeds on them.’

Next up in this hard hitting video he compares the patty sizes.

‘They just told me the meat on my cheeseburger is the same as my meet on my Big Mac.’

He picks each patty out and compares them together. As he’s been told, the two are the same size.

He says the staff told him the patties were the same size and  after his revealing comparison it is clear they were right

‘They are the same size. New Zealand is being ripped off.’

His girlfriend then asks if he’s finished before he snaps at her that he’s not and goes on to claim that he worked at the store.

‘A big Mac patty and a big mac bun was called a five inch bun. And this is called a three inch bun,’ he says picking up the cheese burger.

‘They’re making our big mac with cheese burger ingredients. That is wrong. That is ripping us off on a grand scale.

‘It’s millions of dollars a day that we’re being ripped off.’

The video has been shared hundreds of times and outraged thousands of people who took to the comments section to share their opinion.

The video is a complete sham as the patty sizes have always been the same

But the video is a complete lie. And the unnamed detective is either a comedian or looking for a quick flash of internet fame.

As a Spokesperson for McDonald’s told Daily Mail Australia: ‘McDonald’s makes Big Macs the same way around the world, and Dunedin is no exception. He is correct in noting the 100 percent beef patties used in Big Macs and cheeseburgers are the same.’

Some savvy viewers who realised the video was a stunt slammed the man in the comments.

‘You look pretty old so you should know the size has never changed lol,’ wrote one.

‘I think you’ll find that every country makes em like this  the difference between the 2, is that a big mac comes with 2 patties lettuce & big mac sauce lol! Get a grip guy,’ said another.
