New Zealand police officers send out recruitment video

New Zealand police have released a hilarious recruitment video as they search for a group of dedicated ‘new cops’.

In the almost three minute clip a selection of trained authority figures take it in turns to run across the screen with information about what trainees should expect.

It begins with a woman telling a marching band, complete with bagpipes, to hush as she whispers ‘we want New Zealand to be the safest country in the world but we can’t do it without your help.’

Another officer runs across a hill, just outside a spooky looking factory, and says ‘New Zealand police are looking for new recruits that can make a real difference.’

In a hilarious third scene a male officer is racing down a main street of shops and says ‘those who care about others and their communities.’

At this point he jogs past an elderly man attempting to cross the road, before doubling back and helping to keep him steady.

And while the build up is immense, with suspenseful music and a quick succession of action shots, by the end of the video it turns out they're all chasing a dog holding a shopping bag

As the credits begin to roll the video editors have cleverly left out the names of the officers, likely to conserve their privacy, by saying ‘sorry, we can’t tell you his or her name. I’m afraid their identity is a secret too. None of your concern. See above.’

The catchy advertisement has caught the attention of more than three million people on Facebook, and has been liked 49,000 times.

Most people appear to be tagging their friends in the comments asking if they have ‘signed up yet’, making it seem like a worthwhile campaign.
