Neymar is taken off on a stretcher after appearing to twist his ankle in PSG’s clash with Lille – leaving him facing a race against time to make Champions League second leg with Bayern Munich next month

Neymar was taken off on a stretcher after suffering an ankle injury during Paris Saint-Germain’s win over Lille. 

Lionel Messi struck in the fifth minute of injury-time to earn the reigning champions all three points with a 4-3 win but Christophe Galtier’s side were dealt with a blow earlier in the game. 

Early in the second-half, Neymar collided with Benjamin Andre in attempt to win the ball before twisting his ankle after landing awkwardly. 

He attempted to walk it off but was eventually stretchered off in tears and he could be a major doubt for the Champions League second leg tie against Bayern Munich next month.

The Brazilian star put PSG 2-0 up with a close-range finish after Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring 11 minutes in.

Lille fought back strongly and shockingly went 3-2 up through Bafode Diakite, Jonathan David and Jonathan Bamba’s goals. 

But Kylian Mbappe put the hosts level with his second goal in the 87th minute before Messi’s last-ditch winner. .  

PSG face the task of coming behind to beat Bayern after falling to a 1-0 home defeat in the first leg.

Neymar has been a key cog in the team this season with 17 goals and 16 assists in 28 appearances across all competitions. 

Following Sunday’s win, PSG remain top of Ligue 1, eight points ahead of second-placed Marseille who face Toulouse later in the day.
