NFL prospect Tyler Owens has revealed that he does not ‘believe in space’ or ‘other planets’ and is subscribed to flat-earth theories he finds ‘interesting’ and ‘valid.’
Speaking to reporters at the NFL Combine on Thursday, the Texas Tech defensive back, who is a favorite to post the fastest time for the 40-yard dash, made sure to stand out from other college football stars with his comments and beliefs.
When asked what’s been discussed that he doesn’t believe in, Owens, 22, said: ‘Nah, I don’t believe in space…. like, you know, I’m religious, so I think like… we’re on our own right now. I don’t think there’s, like, other planets, and stuff like that. I don’t know.
‘I used to believe in the heliocentric thing. Like we used to resolve around the sun and stuff, but then I started seeing flat Earth stuff, and I was like, that’s kind of interesting. They started bringing up some valid points.
‘I mean, I don’t know. It could be real. It could be bull. I don’t know.’

Owens is coming off his fifth season in the Big XII after playing three seasons at Texas before transferring to Texas Tech ahead of the 2022 seasons. He totaled 30 sacks and two pass breakups as a super senior.
Weighed in at 218 pounds on Wednesday, the Texas native certainly isn’t short of confidence ahead of the Combine.
In addition to his odd comments, Owens told reporters that he expects his 40-yard dash time to be ‘in the 4.2s somewhere.’

In the past, high-profile athletes, like NBA stars Kyrie Irving and Shaquille O’Neal, have been vocal about their ‘modern flat Earth beliefs.’
Jason Kelce, of the Philadelphia Eagles, also came out saying that people wouldn’t believe the number of NFL players who believe the earth is flat.
He once said on an episode of New Heights – a podcast he co-hosts with his brother, Chiefs TE Travis Kelce: ‘I was on the practice field last year and one of our coaches was walking by and I was like ”Man, how many people do you think on this field believe the Earth is flat?”’
And he was like ”I don’t think–there’s nobody out here that believes that.” I was like ”you’d be surprised, if you start polling, you’d be surprised.’; And before I even finished that, somebody right next to me said, ”I mean how you know it isn’t?”’
