NFL round-up: Tennessee Titans secure status as the AFC’s No 1 seed and get home field advantage

The Tennessee Titans wrapped up the AFC’s No 1 seed, a bye and home-field advantage after winning a topsy-turvy game 28-25 against the Houston Texans.

With superstar running back Derrick Henry set to return from a broken foot suffered on Halloween, few will fancy the trip to face the hard-nosed Titans.

The Kansas City Chiefs, who beat the Denver Broncos 28-24 on Saturday, are the second seed. The Chiefs have played in the last two Super Bowls. 

The Cincinnati Bengals, who won the AFC North for the first time since 2015, will be joined in the postseason by the Buffalo Bills and the New England Patriots.

The final two spots will be filled by either the Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Chargers or Las Vegas Raiders.

Few will fancy the trip to Tennessee given the performances they are capable of producing

The Indianapolis Colts blew their chance to seize a playoff place, losing miserably 26-11 to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In the NFC, reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers has the chance to win a second Super Bowl in what may be his final season in Green Bay.

The Packers are the No 1 seed and will watch the likes of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Los Angeles Rams, the Arizona Cardinals, the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles duke it out in the expanded Wild Card round from Saturday to Monday.

The Indianapolis Colts blew their chance to seize a playoff place as they lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars

Either the New Orleans Saints or the San Francisco 49ers will take the final playoff berth.

After in what very well may be a Pyrrhic victory, the Detroit Lions (3-13-1) beat Green Bay’s back-ups 37-30 to deny themselves the first overall pick in April’s draft.

That dubious honour goes to Jacksonville (3-14) for the second straight season, after their upset win over Indianapolis.
